Designed with an emphasis on detailed surfaces and accessible assembly, the kit features a single-piece lower wing, fully poseable flaps, leading-edge slats and control surfaces, together with detailed cockpit, wheel wells and MK 108 cannon bays. Three historically identified marking options are included. Das Werk officially announced DW32003 as a new 1/32 release in September 2026.

Contexte historique et thème

Development of the Messerschmitt Me 262 began before the war, but the aircraft’s progress was closely linked to the development of reliable turbojet engines. After earlier testing with piston power, the first successful flight using jet propulsion alone took place in July 1942.

The production Me 262 A-1a was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004 turbojets and could reach approximately 870 km/h, making it significantly faster than contemporary Allied piston-engined fighters. Its principal armament consisted of four 30 mm MK 108 cannon concentrated in the nose, giving the aircraft substantial firepower against heavy bombers. Some Me 262s were additionally equipped with R4M rockets.

The Me 262 entered combat during 1944 and became the world’s first operational jet fighter. Its effectiveness was nevertheless restricted by unreliable early jet engines, fuel shortages, limited pilot availability and the increasingly severe disruption of German airfields and production infrastructure. Although more than 1,400 aircraft were completed, relatively few saw effective combat service before the end of the war.

Détails et réalisme des figurines et véhicules

Das Werk engineered DW32003 around the single-seat Me 262 A-1a fighter configuration. The model includes a highly detailed cockpit and wheel wells, together with detailed nose-mounted MK 108 cannon bays that allow one of the aircraft’s defining weapons installations to become an important part of the finished build.

The flying surfaces provide extensive display possibilities. Flaps, leading-edge slats and control surfaces are fully poseable, allowing the aircraft to be configured with a more natural parked appearance rather than having every surface fixed in a neutral position.

Easy-build engineering includes a single-piece lower wing, reducing the complexity of one of the major structural assemblies while retaining the large 1/32 scale and detailed presentation. No pilot figure is included.

Three decal options represent documented late-war aircraft:

Me 262 W.Nr. 111711 “Old 711” – Messerschmitt assembly plant, Schwäbisch Hall, 30 March 1945
Me 262 W.Nr. 170071 – Oberammergau “Cerusit”, early 1945
Me 262 W.Nr. 501232 – Kampfgeschwader (J) 6, Prag-Rusin, April 1945

Utilisation en diorama et en affichage

At 1/32 scale, the Me 262 makes a substantial standalone display aircraft but also offers strong possibilities for late-war airfield scenes. Ground crew, maintenance equipment, fuel drums and suitable vehicles can be used to create a dispersal or servicing environment.

The detailed cannon bays and poseable flying surfaces are particularly useful for maintenance-focused displays. Late-war settings can include established Luftwaffe airfields, temporary dispersal areas or the increasingly improvised operating locations associated with Germany’s final months of air operations.

The three included marking choices also allow the modeler to select a specific aircraft and adapt camouflage, weathering and surrounding scenery accordingly.

Matériel et personnalisation

DW32003 is a 1/32 static plastic model kit supplied unassembled and unpainted. The large scale provides considerable scope for detailed camouflage work, subtle surface variation, exhaust staining and operational weathering.

Late-war Luftwaffe finishes varied considerably, making the specific decal option and available photographic references important when selecting colors and camouflage patterns. The detailed cockpit, undercarriage bays and nose cannon installation also provide separate areas for precision painting and additional detailing.

Glue and paint are required separately.

À qui s'adresse-t-il ?

Das Werk DW32003 is particularly suited to WWII aircraft modelers, Luftwaffe enthusiasts and large-scale builders interested in early jet aviation. Its combination of 1/32 presence, detailed internal areas and simplified major-wing construction makes it attractive both as a substantial standalone aircraft and as the centerpiece of a detailed late-war airfield scene.

Delivery: December 2026

Das Werk DW32003 Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a Schwalbe is a 1/32 plastic model kit of the world’s first operational jet fighter.
